According to the police, both sides have claimed the death of 7 people. The administration has imposed Section 144 and deployed the army in the area. After the clash in Tongi, the injured were admitted to the Medical College of Dhaka, where once again a clash broke out between the two groups.

Clash over possession of field
According to Bangladesh Police, supporters of Maulana Saad (Sadpanthis) want to organize a 5-day Ijtima at Tongi Maidan from Friday, December 20. Maulana Zubair’s supporters do not want him to hold the Ijtima here. Due to this, Zubair’s supporters already occupied the Ijtima ground.
Maulana Saad’s supporters had reached the ground at around 3:30 am on Tuesday morning. After this the clash started. After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh, Zubair supporters have been demanding the Tongi Ijtima, which was to be held in two phases, in one phase.
Zubair supporters allege that Hasina’s party had started the Ijtima in two phases to divide the Muslims. On the other hand, Zubair supporters have accused Maulana Saad’s supporters of being agents of India. Rallies started against Saad’s supporters from October.
At the same time, Saad supporters have accused the administration of helping Zubair supporters.
