Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has responded to questions being raised regarding her friendship with American businessman Elon Musk. She told the Italian Parliament on Wednesday that she is Musk’s friend, but this will not benefit their business relationship.
Meloni said-
I can be both Elon Musk’s friend and the Prime Minister of Italy at the same time. I have good relations with many other people but I do not work on anyone’s orders.
Actually, in September this year, Meloni met Elon Musk during an event in New York. Many pictures related to this meeting had gone viral on social media. It was also claimed that Musk and Meloni are dating each other.
In September, Elon Musk met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Atlantic Council’s Global Citizen Awards.
Meloni targeted opposition leaders
Taking aim at Italy’s opposition leaders, Meloni said – They think that because I have a very good friendship with a foreign leader, I become his slave and accept whatever he says, but it is not so. I don’t follow anyone’s orders.
Prime Minister Meloni has met Musk several times regarding setting up industry in Italy. The Italian government has prepared a framework to promote the space sector, under which it has become easier for foreign companies like Musk’s ‘Space X’ to work there.
According to this framework of the Italian government, an investment of up to Rs 730 crore is expected in Italy by the year 2026.
Musk denies dating allegations
The incident took place between Musk and Meloni during an event in New York on September 24. In this, Musk praised Meloni and described her as very beautiful. Musk said that Georgia is as beautiful from inside as it is from outside. Only after this, rumors of dating between the two started.
However, on these rumours, Musk clarified on social media that they are not dating.
Musk had also visited Italy in December last year and July this year. At that time, Meloni had praised Musk and described him as a very smart person.
