Before the resolution was passed, many of the UN member states expressed their support for Palestine in their respective speeches.
Palestine’s ambassador to the United Nations Riyad Mansour said that Gaza in Palestine is now a scar of the pain of the human family. The ambassador of Slovenia said, Gaza is no more. It has been destroyed. Algeria’s deputy ambassador said that Palestine will pay a heavy price for keeping silent about the plight of Gaza.

However, the proposal is considered symbolic, as Israel and the US rejected it. And there is no legal obligation on Israel to accept this proposal.
However, from a political point of view, there is pressure. Because, when so many countries agree to a proposal, it is considered as an expression of global opinion.
The United States stated that Hamas would not release the hostages in Gaza unless there was a cease-fire. Meanwhile, US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood said, “The language of the proposal is wrong and shameful.”
