Pune: Cyber crimes are increasing in the country. Fraudsters are looting lakhs of rupees in cyber fraud every day. Just as common people are falling under the grip of this, recently it has been learned that a police officer has also fallen under the grip of this cyber fraud. An incident that happened in Pune, a police constable bought goods from a shop, scanned the Q&A code and paid money. And within moments of scanning that QR code, 2 lakh rupees were lost from his account. How does this happen?
How did he get cheated?
A policeman in Saswad near Pune was paying a bill at a bakery by scanning a QR code. After a while he got a message that Rs 18,755 was withdrawn from his savings account. Later when he checked his second account, he came to know that there was an illegal transaction of Rs.12,250 from that account as well. The matter did not stop here. He had a gold loan account in a bank, after a while he got a message on his phone that an OTP for a transaction of Rs 1.9 lakh was received from that loan account as well. He naturally did not give that OTP, but still the transaction was successful.
He did not share this OTP with anyone. But still the police constable was a victim of fraud. In this way, a total of 2.2 lakh rupees was lost in just a few minutes.
The fraudster also had an eye on credit cards
The scammers didn’t stop there. Fraudsters were also trying to make illegal transactions through his credit card. But the constable immediately blocked his account. Thus he survived the fraud. The police involved in the investigation said the fraudsters wanted to carry out the fraud through APK files containing malware.
